Decorating the Christmas tree is not just hanging decorations on branches, for many of us it is something more: a magical moment that fills us with joy, a tradition to be experienced, and shared, with the whole family.

That is why we start making the tree weeks before, with our imagination, and think about how to make original Christmas trees that will amaze and remain in the memory.

If you feel the same way, get inspired by our Christmas trees. We took the Christmas trends from the Christmasworld fair in Frankfurt and reinterpreted them with our Christmas lights. In this post you will find 18 original Christmas tree decoration ideas, which we have divided into several groups, each representing a particular style or trend:

For each of the proposed styles you will find links to the Luminal Park decorations we used to decorate Christmas trees. We hope you find it useful.

1. Traditional Christmas tree

Trends change, traditions remain. That is why, despite the novelties that entice and seduce us each year, many of us still prefer Christmas trees decorated in red and white, richly adorned with Christmas balls and garlands of lights.

We therefore propose a Nordic style first, with candles taken from Hansel and Gretel's house and candy canes. A Christmas tree with glowing balls and small red gift packages complete the decoration.

DETAILS WHICH MAKE US DREAM

Want to give the tree more breathing space at the expense of decorations? You can opt for a smaller, but no less bright Christmas tree and resort to a garland of ultra-bright lights. You can combine the red balls with stuffed horses and Scottish fabric ribbons.

DETAILS THAT MAKE US DREAM

  • The fireplace decorated with large red stockings perfectly matching the colours of the other Christmas decorations.

  • The copper-coloured wire of the micro LED string looks like a real branch and thus enriches the decoration.

  • At the base of the tree are gift boxes, battery operated genuine wax candles  and a string of LED mini-lamps in the wood to spread the magic.

Silver and white Christmas tree

If you don't want to renounce tradition but still want a snowy Christmas tree, you can opt for a 'glacial' decoration with cold lights and North Pole decorations such as bears, snow and white balls.

DETAILS THAT MAKE US DREAM

  • Polar bears: large to decorate the base of the tree, small and wooden to adorn the branches.

  • A shining star to give personality to the tip of the tree.

  • ultraluminous string, with so many LED lights that it illuminates the whole room.

  • Snowflakes and foam icicle on the windows and walls.

If you want another version of the white and silver tree, you can consider a less bright tree and more white, silver and even turquoise Christmas decorations, and put a large white bow at the tip of the tree. How cold!

DETAILS THAT MAKE US DREAM

  • A snow-white net wraps around the fireplace: lest we forget it's winter!

  • The fauna in the room is rich and lively: polar bears, penguins and luminous reindeer. Reindeer look great at the entrance of your home, and if you have any doubts discover other ideas for decorating the outside of your home and garden at Christmas.

  • A snowman illuminated by cascades of cold lights welcomes your guests.

Rococò Christmas Tree

Christmas is also about ostentation, gold and glitter, which is why among our decorated Christmas trees, we made one that best expresses one of the Christmas trends discovered at the Christmas fair at the beginning of the year.

DETAILS THAT MAKE US DREAM

  • The garlands of lights gave way to the  twigball – bright star-shaped branches - at the tip of the tree and between the branches.

  • Peacock blue balls set off the golden ornaments that abound in the hair.

  • The spiral light vase decorating the fireplace, which in itself is quite sober. You didn't expect that, did you?

2. Christmas tree for kids

Trees designed for children are usually full of decorations, so it is best to stick to the chosen colour palette for a nice effect. Our palette consists of the following colours: red, green, white and brown.

In all cultures, tales and legends are an integral part of Christmas. So if you are planning a Christmas tree for young children, let them feel the magic of fairy tales through teddy bears, gnomes, rag dolls and carved wooden decorations in the shape of a star, heart and fir tree.

DETAILS THAT MAKE US DREAM

  • The big Scottish ribbon on the tip of the tree, so big that it looks like a gift that someone can unwrap. See more ideas for decorating the tip of the tree.

  • Garlands of red and coloured balls instead of streamers to leave more space for the rest of the Christmas decorations.

  • Lots of gift wrapping at the base of the tree. A tip: use wrapping paper in red tones if you want to maintain a certain uniformity in the design.

  • Two luminous decorations give a special touch to the base: a wooden LED tree and a lantern with stars, which houses an LED candle. Our tree could not be more magical!

Red and White Christmas Tree

Who said that a white tree cannot have a traditional look? In creating this white Christmas tree, we played with typical Christmas colours and thought about how to make children crazy with joy, so we decorated it with decorations that remind them of the candies and sweets they are fond of.

DETAILS THAT MAKE US DREAM

  • Speaking of candy... scatter candy sticks, lollipops and various chupa chups in the tree canopy so that the wait for presents is sweeter.

  • Choose unusually shaped Christmas decorations such as presents, toys and white bows with red polka dots - it will be a sight to behold! Stripes, dots and spirals combine to make a Christmas tree as beautiful as Willy Wonka and his chocolate factory.

  • Packages recalling the green of fir trees and a couple of red lanterns lighting up the atmosphere...

  • And don't forget the rest of the house! Have you seen our Christmas lanterns with snow effect? Your kids will be fascinated.

3. Christmas tree with natural materials

The Christmas tree, even when artificial, puts us back in touch with nature. The green foliage relaxes us and its warm lights encourage us, at this time of year, to nourish our 'hygge' souls and, why not, to decorate the Christmas tree in Nordic style.

Metallic colours have been dictating the trend for a couple of years now, which is why we wanted to decorate a tree in shades of copper and gold. Besides being the latest trend, they are ideal for creating a minimalist, elegant and at the same time cheerful Christmas tree.

DETAILS THAT MAKE US DREAM

  • Branches of micro led lights embedded in copper-coloured cables instead of the typical light string.

  • The luminous branch - similar to the one used to light the tree - makes for a truly original Christmas tree.

  • Three-dimensional geometric figures give a modern and very Nordic touch.

  • Candle copper-coloured with the flickering flame are perfect to characterise the living room and recall the style of the tree. Ah! Even though they are LED candles they are made from natural wax.

If you have a restaurant or shop and you don't want to wait until December to put the Christmas tree on display, get busy now and resort to autumn decorations in harmony with nature and the colours of this season. Everyone will be amazed to see how beautiful a Christmas tree looks in autumn.

DETAILS THAT MAKE US DREAM

  • Be inspired by nature and embellish your tree with autumn decorations such as dried leaves, pine cones, acorns and mushrooms. From the garden to the house: pumpkins, apples and mushrooms complete the decoration.

  • In this case we used a branch of led lights thicker than that of the previous tree.

  • Candle, a lot of candles. We combined two different models: gold-coloured candles with a moving flame and LED candles lit only at the base.

Christmas tree with wooden decorations

With the use of natural materials in decoration you are always on the safe side. We therefore propose a Christmas tree with white wooden decorations and warm lights that will delight young and old alike.

DETAILS THAT MAKE US DREAM

  • The combination of white with light wood tones and ivory candles. A palette of colours to recreate an atmosphere of peace and tranquillity during the festive season.

  • Besides the garland of lights, white lanterns with candles and organza bags filled with micro led lights contribute to a sense of warmth.

  • Lanterns bigger and candles fill the house with their warm light and are perfectly suited to a Christmas at home surrounded by loved ones.

And if this tree seems overflowing with decorations, what about this other one? Again using wooden decorations we can have a more traditional and simple Christmas tree.

DETAILS THAT MAKE US DREAM

  • The light of the LED string is warmer, reminiscent of incandescent bulbs, have you noticed the difference?

  • Jute accompanies the ornaments and the garland that wraps around the tree.

  • Light strings, luminous spheres e twigball, both of micro led, for more sophisticated lighting.

4. Modern Christmas tree

So far we have used garlands of lights and branches that mimic the shape of real ones and blend well into the Christmas tree. If you want to leave everyone speechless, take a look at the next Christmas trees, which we have decorated using more striking and unusual ornaments, such as the festoon of bulbs.

Vintage Christmas tree

A tree with light bulbs straight out of Edison's factory. It would have been unthinkable to make it with the incandescent bulbs of yesteryear, which could easily burn out or break. LED technology therefore allows us to leave room for imagination...

DETAILS THAT MAKE US DREAM

  • The tree topper in the shape of a bunch of grapes made from a strings of light bulbs.

  • Less is more: a long red ribbon and vintage toy cars are enough to decorate the tree.

  • Red candles and candle holders in the shape of a little house with red roofs complete this simple arrangement and warm our hearts.

With the same strings of low voltage bulbs we made another vintage tree, in this case we added postcards and old black and white photos.

DETAILS THAT MAKE US DREAM

  • Postcards from the past that still excite: Keep calm and go vintage.

  • At the base you can place LED candles or luminous spheres of different sizes.

  • Garlands of white wooden houses to decorate bookshelves and shelves.

Christmas tree with inscriptions

We love to fill the house with messages to bring positivity and joy into our lives, so why not use them to decorate the Christmas tree? We present you with two options. Below is the brightest.

DETAILS THAT MAKE US DREAM

  • The shape of the light garland we chose looks like a branch of glowing gems.

  • All the decorations are very bright and of a brilliant copper colour.

  • Home accessories: a glowing wreath embellished with a cinnamon stick, pine branches and dried orange. How wonderful!

For a more modern house, we thought of removing the garland of lights and leaving only the letters. Glowing stars complete the set-up. In a few minutes you have a beautiful, modern and simple Christmas tree that fits in well with the minimalist style flats in big cities.

DETAILS THAT MAKE US DREAM

  • To flat stars you prefer 3D stars of different sizes, they not only decorate the tree but also brighten it up.

  • Copper-coloured garlands of geometric figures inside transparent vases provide the finishing touch.

5. Colourful Christmas tree

But if you really want an original Christmas tree, make it with colours: the folk style as well as the eclectic style are distinguished precisely by a palette of bright colours.

Eclectic Christmas Tree

The eclectic style is eccentric and surprises us with accessories that are unique in shape, colour and material. Everyday ornaments, figures and objects are transformed to create a fantasy world. This Christmas give your imagination free rein!

DETAILS THAT MAKE US DREAM

  • The tree crowned by two stars: a glittery rose and a bright star with a double profile, framing it.

  • Lots of glitter everywhere, even around the Christmas balls.

  • Coloured sticks with different scents add extravagance to the tree.

  • To decorate the base of the tree we used large tropical leaves.

  • TIP: choose a white tree to better emphasise the Christmas decorations.

Folk Christmas tree

The best solution for those who like to travel with their imagination. So pull all the travel memories accumulated over time out of the trunk to create a colourful composition, inspired by a mix of cultures and countries, that transports us to faraway lands every time we turn on the lights.

DETAILS THAT MAKE US DREAM

  • In this case one in particular: RGB lights, which change colour and produce incredible lighting effects. You can find them here in the RGB light sphere chosen as a spike, in the garland of RGB micro LED lights and of course in the RGB light fir with which we decorated the house.

Origami Christmas tree

Do you like paper decorations? Then this colourful Christmas tree is made for you. The tree is decorated from top to bottom with origami of different shapes, colours and sizes, your allies to add a touch of colour and cheer to your living room during the Christmas holidays, in addition to the colourful lights.

DETAILS THAT MAKE US DREAM

  • As with the eclectic Christmas tree, a white tree is the best choice to bring out the colours.

  • Christmas balls of different sizes grouped by colour as well as RGB garland light effects.

  • The Christmas image projector Oscar to customise living room walls.

  • Glass vases with coloured lights  on the shelves.

6. Ideas for slim and small Christmas trees

Maybe you have little space to put your Christmas tree or prefer a miniature version, this does not mean you have to give up the tree. Here are a couple of simple ideas for slim, office and wall-mounted Christmas trees.

They are simple because you only need to take a small trees already equipped with lights, and hang Christmas balls on it. With little you get an elegant, simple and at the same time warm decoration.

You can also decorate a pine branch in the shape of a pyramid: cover it with artificial snow and illuminate it with led candles... Beautiful, isn't it?
